The Friday Column: Terminator Morris: Judgment Day

terminator-morris-sqDid you know that Jehovah’s Witness leaders think they will personally be involved in killing billions of people in the near future?

Anthony Morris III, a member of the religion’s leadership committee known as the Governing Body, gave a talk at the Helsinki international convention of Jehovah’s Witnesses in June 2016.

As I listened to the speech, for the first time it struck me that Morris, and other members of the Governing Body, actually think that any day now they will personally be involved in the slaughter of most of the Earth’s population.

How so?

Well, let’s take a tour through some of the beliefs of Jehovah’s Witnesses, to help us better put into context the claims Morris made during his Helsinki talk, which began at minute 54 in the video. We cannot host the video here, as Watchtower has in the past tried to shut the website down for such actions, but in unrelated news, here is some modern art that your web browser might like:

Armageddon: Who lives, who dies, and who kills them?

Watchtower's grim teaching of Armageddon can be a tough sell - especially in a foreign tongue

Morris and his fellow Governing Body members claim to belong to a group known in the doctrine of the Jehovah’s Witnesses as “the 144,000” also called ”the anointed.” It’s a group that Witnesses teach will go to heaven after their death, and will soon rule over the Earth from the heavenly realm. The Witnesses also believe that the rest of faithful humanity form a second group called “the great crowd.” They teach that this second group will survive the climactic battle of Armageddon.

What is the battle of Armageddon according to Jehovah’s Witnesses? They believe it to be the great final battle between God and “unfaithful mankind.” This is what the Jehovah’s Witnesses say about the role of the 144,000 in the coming Apocalypse:

The timing of the gathering indicates that all anointed ones will be in heaven before God’s war of Armageddon begins. In heaven, the 144,000 corulers with Christ will receive authority to share with Jesus in wielding “an iron rod” of destruction against all enemies of God’s Kingdom. (Rev. 2:26, 27) – Jehovah’s Witness publication God’s Kingdom Rules, chapter 21.

So who exactly will be killed at Armageddon?

According to the Watchtower, everyone who isn’t a Jehovah’s Witness.

“Only Jehovah’s Witnesses, those of the anointed remnant and the “great crowd,” as a united organization under the protection of the Supreme Organizer, have any Scriptural hope of surviving the impending end of this doomed system dominated by Satan the Devil.” – Watchtower September 1st, 1989, p.19.

Jehovah’s Witnesses expect Armageddon to start any moment. There are currently approximately 8 million active Jehovah’s Witnesses, perhaps around 10–12 million Jehovah’s Witnesses when small children and others who are not involved in proselytizing are counted. So if Armageddon started now and only Jehovah’s Witnesses were spared that means approximately 99.9% of humankind would be killed. Though they might try to conceal it when you first speak to them, this bloodbath is central to the message of the Jehovah’s Witnesses preaching the Word on a street near you.

Anthony Morris: Angel of Death?

Screenshot 2016-08-26 21.49.37In his speech in Helsinki this summer, Anthony Morris III referred to 2nd Kings Chapter 19 Verse 35. Here, the Bible claims that a single angel sent by Jehovah killed 185,000 Assyrian soldiers during one night. Morris then goes on to say: “At Armageddon, the Christ Jesus will stand up, and along with him the 144,000. Can you imagine, one angel destroyed 185,000, what’s 144,000 immortal creatures with Jesus going to do? And only the loyal ones are in the Book.”

The Book he refers to is the Book of Life mentioned in Revelation 17:8. According to Jehovah’s Witnesses: “It appears that Jehovah God, figuratively speaking, has been writing names in the book of life from “the founding of the world.” – it appears that only when a person becomes a servant of Jehovah is his name written in “the book of life,” and only if he continues faithful is his name retained in that book.” – Jehovah’s Witness publication Insight on the Scriptures, volume 2, pp. 464-468.

Basically, what Morris is saying to his audience in the final talk of the convention in Helsinki is this: “you must remain a loyal servant of Jehovah – which equals being a loyal supporter of the organization I’m running – or I will personally be involved in killing you in the near future after I have been given supernatural powers by Jesus.”

I don’t know if the Jehovah’s Witness leaders have thought about this, but threatening to kill someone unless they are loyal to you is usually considered to be a crime. It’s certainly something most people would consider to be extremely unethical.

Jehovah’s Witnesses are sometimes called pacifists, because they refuse to serve in the armies of any countries. However, I can’t help but wonder if this term is really appropriate when the leaders of the religion, men such as Anthony Morris III, are eagerly waiting to wage war as supernatural creatures with the sole purpose of brutally slaughtering defenceless men, women and children by the billions.

I’m so tired of him at a personal level but glad he’s present at the operational level of Jehovah’s Witnesses, for the spectacle of ignorance he brings to the leadership.

I thought he’d reached his nadir when he ‘humble gloated’ (bragged) at the Tennessee convention regarding the young man who died from refusing medical treatment.

He seems immune to the generally accepted psychological maxim that whatever comes out his mouth is a confirmation of either his worst fears or fondest desires; it truly doesn’t make a difference in his case given the extreme nature of his views and statements. He’s equally deplorable either way.

I am going to start partaking so I can kill people too! If its just Jesus and the 144,000 doing the killing I would be able to kill over 55,000,000. Thats better then a video game.

Really tells you a lot about the man. That’s the first I have heard that the 144,000 are going to be mass murders.

@Joni – thanks for the slow reveal.

It is curious that another Youtube channel (Kim Mikey) posted recently with similar topic, if no referenced video included of AntMo-3. Something in that posting referenced JRutherford’s outline in 1920’s Watchtowers (just after the 1919 schisms and his booting directors and taking charge of appointments in all Bible Student groups), and in the April 1st and 15th magazines, is an explicit statement that ‘no break in fellowship should happen to those that disagree with the changes coming out of central HQ’. Sounds magnanimous, yes? Then, we have the video above from AntMo-3, and the scores of publications from “Judge” delighting in the demise of world leaders, dissenters and innocents, as well. It took a moment to piece together why this “soft sell” of violence and gentle coercion seemed so unethical. Then, it flashed up in a lukewarm puke; this was that neighborhood ‘heavy’ who came by the home, sat down and laid out what his hopeful expectations were for the listener, then as he (or she) is leaving casually remarks about how well listener’s child or wife is doing at a certain place–pinpointing to the listener that the heavy knows every detail of the listener and the listener’s beloved attachments.

The old “iron hand in a velvet glove”. In JR’s article it seems sincerely welcoming and inclusive, but let’s review: 1) he seized all assets, 2) he seized control of appointments creating a lock on authority at local level, 3) he kicked out directors, and 4) he allowed no concessions and considerations for minority and dissenting views in the outline. Instead the outline brings up actions that humans would naturally think about now that he brought it up [‘maybe we should distance ourselves from those who are disagreeing’].

Here AntMo-3 reveals “the iron hand” tucked away inside the velvety smiles and snug atmosphere of an enthusiastic convention full of zealots. Add in the opening foray of “shunning” faded loved ones. But, there’s no coercion forcing one to remain a Witness–there’s no guards at a commune gate, no isolated town in Guyana, or is there?

Like the searing heat of hell-fire, this group believes in describing its punishments in vivid detail. Thought control, if not mind-control. The guards at the gate of the mental commune are placed there in psychological silence the more the JW buys into the belief system. Lose a relative in death, there’s another guard stationed because if you leave, you’ll never see your relative again. Get married, another guardpost–leave and you could lose your spouse or never see your grandchildren.

Mr. Morris in a Watchtower “profile” article spoke about his years in the Vietnam war – one assumes he would have been in his early twenties (?) – if so, this would have been formative experiences. If memory serves me right the article also mentioned him meeting an old JW (father figure) introducing him to this movement (i.e. “the truth”). Seeking comfort and safety with such a background – psychologically – he would have found a community offering just that. Fear of apocalypse and a need for a senior leading him (now of course JHVH) he seems to have found a context where his own issues have fertile ground (?)

I have not been able to find a video or transcript of Anthony Morris III’s delusional claim that he will become a mass-murdering angel of death during Armageddon. However, the Governing Body members have already written words to the effect that they will happly engage in the slaughter billions of men, women and children.

From the July 15, 2015 Study Edition of the Watchtower, “Your Deliverance is Getting Near”! —

“Referring to the time when all the anointed are in heaven, Revelation 17:14 tells us this about the enemies of God’s people: “These will battle with the Lamb, but because he is Lord of lords and King of kings, the Lamb will conquer them. Also, those with him who are called and chosen and faithful will do so.” Together with his 144,000 corulers in heaven, Jesus will come to the rescue of God’s people here on earth.”

“At that time, all goat like ones “will depart into everlasting cutting-off.” The earth will finally be cleansed of all wickedness, and the great crowd will pass through the final part of the great tribulation.”

According to Revelation 14:20 the blood that came out of the winepress of Jehovah’s anger was as deep as the bridles of the horses for a distance of a thousand six hundred furlongs or 184 miles so Tony will be riding on a horse and stabbing people all over the place and there will be so much blood that it will be up to the horses bridles. Such a great picture to show your kids on page 214 in the Revelation Grand Climax book if you want them to have nightmares for the rest of their lives or be terrified out of their wits of displeasing Jehovah but Tony’s loving the thought of it.

I’m glad that you inspired me to watch Tony’s delusional babbling to the end. At 56:00, Tony says, “Can you imagine what it’ll be like to listen as loyal resurrected ones tell how God treated them in a special way? After this, there is a video presentation that I had not seen before.

The video begins at 56:35 with a scene of a man walking along a sandy ocean beach. The man looks familiar and so does the group with whom he is picnicking. It’s the resurrected cast of the Bunker Video! I was wondering what happened to them, because the first episode ended in a cliffhanger.

The video proceeds to show previews of what life will be like on the upcoming paradise earth. Everyone will be young and smiling. Clothes will be greatly simplified pullover styles and women will be wearing pants. Everyone will walk and move in slow motion in beautiful gardens.

Resurrected bearded men from ancient times will teach young ones dead languages from parchment scrolls. The writer’s ink horn will once again be used. Women will gather their children around them and study from the Silver Sword version of The New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures.

I originally had a problem finding this Anthony Morris III video. The problem was that I was interpreting the 5th character from the right in the “modern art” box as a capital “O”, when it is actually a zero.

New commentor here. I was at bethel for a few years in the US (wont say which branch office) and can say that this has been a recurring theme for Tony. He frequently would reference to the “bethel family” his memories of what it was like in Vietnam and how it gave him a picture of what it would be like at Armageddon. He repeatly said how he relished the opportunity to do for God what he saw done for Uncle Sam, I kid you not. I remember thinking at morning worship how glad I was that he was saying this only there at bethel where we were spiritually mature and that witnesses in general couldn’t hear it. I thought that about lots of the garbage the GB said. Now awake, I am so grateful for JW Broadcasting. Let the world see who the people at the top really are.

If you watch the latest jwbroadcasting morning worship, Samuel Herd is explaining about all the “work” the Governing Body does, he says that people may see them walking around etc. but what they are really doing is taking care of the book publishing business and trying to figure out how to get out of all the child abuse lawsuits facing them all over the world, so they aren’t lazy at all like so many of us “apostates” have implied.

They are like the CEO’s in all other big businesses but the only thing is that the “anointed” are supposed to be the “slave” that Jesus said was supposed to feed his sheep but what I get out of that morning worship is that they are just CEO’s with a bunch of underlings that do all the real work of “feeding” the sheep.

I am sure it’s a reply to “apostates” saying they are living high on donations etc and don’t do any work. But not even one time did he say anything about how they dig into the bible to get Bible “truths” to feed to the sheep and not even once does he say they go in service or conduct Bible studies. It was all about how busy they are with all the stuff they have to do, like arranging for assemblies and approving the art work and approving the articles etc. and the lawyers fighting for them all over the world but of course he didn’t say the lawsuits had anything to do with protecting the child abusers and instead the lawyers are fighting to screw the victims of the child abuse. That he left out. He wanted the rank and file to think all the lawsuits had to do with legal cases so they could preach instead.

It is just exactly as Ray Franz said in his book Crisis of Conscience.

If we bring up that latest morning worship by Samuel Herd, I’d ask our friends who are still in the “truth” to see how many times, Herd says they open up their Bibles and how many times do they go in service.

When I was first appointed as an elder I was given a key to the filing cabinet hidden in the literature room – the cabinet with ALL the letters! Along with the key came the suggestion that I should familiarize myself with the contents of all those letters. It took a few weeks, but I got through them. That was my first exposure to the innards of the religion I was raised in. I came away feeling that Witnesses have no idea how controlled the elders are, or how secretive the Organization actually is.

It’s great to hear comments like Verno’s, Chifade’s, and yours, because it seems that the depth of Organizational involvement has a direct bearing on a person’s relief when set free.

Interesting what the scriptures have to say about rejoicing over the death of fellow humans.

(Obadiah 12-16) 12 “And you ought not to watch the sight in the day of your brother, in the day of his misfortune; and you ought not to rejoice at the sons of Judah in the day of their perishing; and you ought not to maintain a big mouth in the day of [their] distress. 13 You ought not to come into the gate of my people in the day of their disaster. You, even you, ought not to peer at his calamity in the day of his disaster; and you ought not to thrust out a hand upon his wealth in the day of his disaster. 14 And you ought not to stand at the parting of the ways, in order to cut off his escapees; and you ought not to hand over his survivors in the day of distress. 15 For the day of Jehovah against all the nations is near. In the way that you have done, it will be done to you. Your sort of treatment will return upon your own head. 16 For in the way that YOU people have drunk upon my holy mountain, all the nations will keep drinking constantly. And they will certainly drink and gulp down and become as though they had never happened to be.

Thanks for the comments everyone! Back in the day in the 1980s the Governing Body members seemed to me almost divine. I heard Dan Sydlik give a talk in Helsinki in the early 1990s. He sounded nice, unlike those simpleminded uncivilized megalomaniacs I have recently watched on JW broadcasting. I think the change is not only in me. It seems to me the organization has evolved: its nice charismatic leaders have disappeared and their place has been taken by mindless boring administrators who do not have speaking or any other skills except maybe the ability to give orders to other mindless robots. This change has taken place both in the US and in Finland where I live. It’s interesting and scary to see where this is taking the organization.

Excellent article Joni, and I agree with this statement you made in the comments. I look back and obviously even with the new light, new truths, and all of the adjustments, some of the basic and fundamental teachings I now find so distasteful were always there and may never be abandoned by the GB.

But, the men at the top and the organization itself were different. I don’t feel like it just looks different to me now because I have awakened.

I now believe it was always a flawed belief system and that it was never directed by God and his holy spirit, but even with destruction of the ‘wicked’ as a core teaching there did seem to be more kindness and humility displayed (at least publicly) by those we were told were the faithful and discreet slave.

I’ve met several members of the old school GB, now deceased, personally, and lived in a region of the US that always got one of them as a speaker at the district conventions.

They did not seem like these men. But on the other hand, seeing what the GB and the organization has evolved into, evidence does suggest that the seeds were already there.

Thanks for the article. I just watched the clip from minute 54 to the end of the Paradise video (which I hadn’t seen yet). Unfortunately, I had forgotten how nauseous I get with all this stuff.

Anyway, I think you’re right about Anthony Morris III getting a thrill when discussing the hoped-for destruction, even if it does include children. I wonder if he’s ever thought deeply about that. Can he imagine that he, as a powerful shining angel, can stand over a little girl who is screaming for her dead parents (because he just burned them down) and pronounce her guilty for not believing in God’s Kingdom? And then take her life too?

Has he ever thought about it that way? I assume he hasn’t. The image is too disturbing, too wrong to fit into Witness theology and the belief that “God is love.”

    So… hot dogs, anyone?

The WT teaches that in the aftermath of Armageddon, there is a resurrection of all the righteous and unrighteous who died prior to Armageddon. At the same time, those who died during Armageddon will not get a second chance, be they innocent children of non-JWs or people who had never even been exposed to the JW religion. Anyone with a sense of logic would know that such a scenario is a travesty of justice. But it fits right into WT’s agenda of trying to scare bible studies and newly interested ones into joining the cult. If the doctrine taught that everyone living through the Great Tribulation and first Armageddon would get an opportunity at everlasting life, then who would want to get baptized and sacrifice a successful career and other personal pursuits in order to devote countless hours of service for a thankless WT organization?

That’s exactly it, Frankie. There’s also the bait of the departed loved ones and the chance to see them again because they, along with Jack the Ripper, are going to be resurrected because they all died prior to the Big ‘A’. The whole thing from wo to go is a total joke… well, it would be if people didn’t actually die and who would otherwise have lived if they weren’t a JW. This death cult of martyrdom needs to be taken off the streets now! It’s a public menace and can be harmful to a persons well-being.

I received a text from an elder yesterday…. they have been thinking about me – how nice.
‘please look at the study article in the wt for this week…. actually the previous articles on molding were just awesome too – sooo wt is doing DIY now eh…’ They also ask if there is anytime I want them to visit to just let them know. Yeah right lol. Er, as I haven’t been to a meeting in nearly a year, has it not crossed your mind that I don’t have the study articles anymore? Seriously why would I want to chat to a cult who’s leaders want to come back and wipe out all the people who are not showing obeisance to them.
Going to have another coffee and watch Ghost Hunters… might need a few tips on what it’s like on the other side.

Speaking of thinking, I just met an elder a two days ago while shopping. After exchanged casual greeting he said they have been thinking of me and missed me. He asked me why I stop attending meeting and he said, ” are you living with some” (with a girl) I was expecting to asked me about my well-being and so forth cause I didn’t attend for bout two years now. I was about to laugh and at the same time so annoyed by his unconsidered and unwise teenager like question while I struggle my emotion, I asked him, is it the only reason people left the organization, eh? he said that he thought I am living with a girl. Is this the only thing you can think of? hummer head. I said No. his wife was near and she and I was so embarrassed by his stupid questions. When I my answer was no, he said to his wife, i quote “baby could you give us a minute”. Baby. seriously. I said I just need time things to sort out (I was actually just finished both Ray books and regularly visited apostate site he didn’t know I was preparing when they showed up) he said they will “visited” me soon. I know what he meant but I been waiting for this long time and so be it. But if he is really a Sheppard of God’s sheep, couldn’t he at least quote a single verse from the bible or say something spiritual uplifting words to encourage me? Inquire about my well-being? I guess elders going to be princes during a thousand year reign. Does he needs some kind of reminder that he is not the boss of me, eh? So, I am expecting this week or next they going “visit” me and will see what is going to happen. Greeting from Canada :)
ps: pls ignore spelling and grammar eRroRs.

The 144,000 doctrine is a key JW doctrine which makes the JWs unique from other religions.

There is however a glaring inequity between the 144,000 & the Great Crowd (GC):

    The GC will experience:

    1. The Great Tribulation – a gruelling/horrifying event which has never occurred before.

    2. Armageddon.

    3. A thousand years of “loving” molding and refinement.

    4. A second Armageddon at the end of the thousand years.

The 144,000 will experience NONE of these things.

The 144,000 will be transformed into perfect angelic beings and serve as kings and priests without ever having to go through any of these things.

Can hardly believe the things AM III says – can he get any worse? If all the anointed are to be in heaven ready for the great slaughter, who will lead all the JW’s in the final lead up to Armageddon?
A little off topic but one of the latest videos on jw.org, ‘Jehovah Will Care for All Our Needs’ states that newly baptised witnesses have their prayers much more readily received. I’ve never heard this before. Have I missed something?

Ever seen the Kevin Smith movie Red State? What happens when these GB lunatics decide that they no longer need to wait for the rapture (that’s new light, the rapture, although they don’t use that term), and they can get Armageddon underway by taking matters into their own own hands and starting the killing now?

I know it seems far-fetched, but you should never underestimate megalomaniacs like AM III. No one thought that Jim Jones and the People’s Temple would opt for a violent solution, but that’s what happened. As this group gets more and more desperate (due low growth rates and continual unfulfilled prophesies), we will need to keep a closer watch on them and our loved ones who are still in.

Regarding Jim Jones and his cult followers: Near the end, the People’s Temple was facing greatly increased criticism from government and news media. In 1978, Jones moved his cult to Jonestown, Guyana in an attempt to escape what Jones called “persecution.”

A number of US congressmen were investigating widespread child abuse and human rights violations reported to be going on in Jonestown. In November of 1978, Congressman Leo Ryan went to Jonestown to investigate these charges and he was murdered by Temple members. The rest is history.

The Watchtower cult is currently under similar global scrutiny. Only time will tell if the new Watchtower compound in Warwick, NY becomes another Jonestown.

That’s right, Winston. Never under estimate the delusional flock either. Just look at what they are already turning a blind eye to. There will always be that hard core to any cult.
Recently, we had I.S. trying to bring about their version of Armageddon by setting up their so called caliphate and trying to goad the west into war. I wonder what they are thinking now. Thank goodness (not god) for level headed Atheism.

WS, no it doesn’t seem far fetched to me, that’s what makes this all so scary. What happens when the end doesn’t come fast enough for them, will they decide to just start armageddon on their own? Never underestimate a bunch of fanatics with nothing to lose. When I first left, I would always take the literature from jw”s when they would stop to encourage us because I didn’t want to make waves. Now, I am polite but very direct: “no I don’t want your mags, I have my beliefs and I’m not going back.” I don’t know what their ‘end game’ is anymore but whatever it is I don’t want any part of it.

His moral sense has been warped due to his obsession
    with the genocidal Yahweh.

Sad to say I was the same, though I wouldn’t personally
kill anyone, I was willing to take part in burying the dead
    after Armageddon.

When some disaster occurred or some epidemic such as
AIDS or EBOLA broke out. My main thoughts were not for
the poor wretched victims, but that Bible prophecy was
being fulfilled and MY future was looking good.

Un-healthy retarded outlook and thinking. So glad I

I remember growing up in the 70’s – 80’s that the understanding was that the anointed would not participate in the slaughter of mankind and that some of these would be left on the Earth when Armageddon began.

I can’t point to any specific references but this was the understanding then.

Another glaring example of flip-flopping on the so called “truth”.

Word has it that the attire for the anointed ones is a little snug around the crotch…
Although Anthony Morris the Turd need not worry about the fashion designers of heaven being a little gay because he along with all of his fellow anointed ones are to have their genitals removed in the great emasculation of Elysium.
He shall still be a male of course, as females are not allowed to be kings or priests… but he will not have a trouser bulge to worry about in his new heavenly silky satin spacesuit.

God shall probably pick Anthony as his favourite former human… closely followed by Charles T Russell who despite not being a man anymore, will still insist on having his trademark Abe Lincoln half beard attached to his angelic face because otherwise ‘how else will they recognise me?’..
And… after 1000 years of generally not doing much except reliving the highlights of the great war in which 8 billion puny humans put up a pretty darn good resistance against the immortal and unspeakably powerful forces of God… lasting… a good few seconds, Anthony Morris the murd (erer) and his 143999 chums will all be laid off by the almighty.

Perhaps even getting their genitals back.

“Who says I am not under the special protection of God?”
“I believe today that my conduct is in accordance with the will of the Almighty.”
Could these words have been uttered by Anthony Morris III as he contemplates his part in the coming slaughter of millions at Armageddon? No, in fact these quotes have been attributed to the murderous dictator Adolf Hitler.
Be careful Anthony, your bunker awaits!!
