Key announcements from the 2015 annual meeting have been leaked over a week in advance

It’s the time of year when Jehovah’s Witnesses worldwide look forward with eager anticipation to Watchtower’s Annual Meeting.

Usually hosted at the Jersey City Assembly Hall (or “Stanley Theater”), over recent years the Governing Body has increasingly used the event to showcase new releases, or announce new organizational developments or understandings of scripture.

The 2015 Annual Meeting, to be held next Saturday, October 3rd, will be no different. But this time, thanks to an anonymous contact within the organization, JWsurvey has exclusive details of what will be announced.

A letter to be read to all congregations dated October 4, 2015 (the day after the Annual Meeting) outlines a number of intriguing changes that, in different ways, highlight the new direction in which the organization is moving.

Gone is the much-loved Theocratic Ministry School, to be replaced by a 15-minute session for demonstrating preaching presentations. And, perhaps more tellingly, printing of the public Watchtower and Awake! magazines is being further scaled back as the organization continues to downsize.

[Update: 09/29/2015 – Letter removed –

For more information, please click here ]

As mentioned, the scaling down of magazine printing is perhaps the most telling of these changes. In July 2013, I wrote about how the magazine reductions for that year represented a 39% reduction in printing since 2005. That figure is now up to a staggering 57% reduction in monthly magazine printing, even after factoring in increased circulation figures for the Watchtower and Awake!.

If you want to check my math for yourself, please do…

Jehovah’s Witnesses trying to digest this news would do well to ponder the question: “If we are so deep in the last days, and more urgently in need of spiritual food than ever before in earth’s history, why is spiritual food in our magazines being reduced? Why would Jehovah give us MORE spiritual food 10 years ago, when there was supposedly more time to elapse before Armageddon, than now?”

The reduction in printed “spiritual food” will be especially noticeable to anyone who collects bound volumes of the organization’s magazines. As the following graph shows, the equivalent of only 9 months’ worth of pages out of the original 24 months (12 months for each magazine) will be printed from 2016 onwards…

combined-bound-volume

The announcement about the updated “Organized” book also offers a glimpse at the direction Watchtower is being forced to move in as its woes deepen. Publishers have been told to ponder carefully whether they really need a printed copy of the book rather than viewing it online.

It really wouldn’t surprise me if, within the next few years, we reach a stage where printing operations are cancelled altogether and ALL material for preaching and meeting preparation is to be accessed online, with greater use of tablets or publishers printing out their own leaflets advertising JW.org.

The Theocratic Ministry School - soon to be a thing of the past.
The Theocratic Ministry School – soon to be a thing of the past.

The scrapping of the Theocratic Ministry School will similarly come as a shock and disappointment to many thinking Witnesses. As I mention in the video that accompanies this article (see below), if there was one nugget of goodness in my experience as a Jehovah’s Witness, it was in the training I received as a public speaker in the Theocratic Ministry School.

Not that the Theocratic Ministry School compensated me in any way for the many years I wasted being taught lies, but at least it gave me skills that were transferable for when I left the organization. Now, even that small personal benefit has been excised by the Governing Body, who are seemingly only interested in their followers learning how to be distributors of their propaganda rather than competent individuals who can express themselves effectively.

But any sadness and nostalgia I may feel for seeing the religion I grew up in bled of all useful cultural elements is quickly replaced by joy, for two reasons.

Firstly, I have the privilege of witnessing a harmful cult entering its death throes, forced by this wondrous new age of information to downsize and implement counter-productive measures in its floundering attempts to stay afloat.

And just as significantly, I am witnessing a Governing Body that, already unable to claim control over ALL of its 8 million members (many of whom stay inside through fear rather than choice), cannot even stop leaks from the bethelites it sits down for breakfast with.

Change is happening before our very eyes, and THAT is worth celebrating.

Update: for those of you who might be wondering whether this leak is genuine, the following images have emerged on a pro-Watchtower website (jw-archive.org) related to the new “Teach Us” book. The title differs from that mentioned in the letter (“What Can the Bible Teach Us”). Also, the letter advises that the cover will be only “slightly altered” from that of the Bible Teach book, so it could be that these are only early mock-ups before changes were made to the title and appearance. We shall see.

This is an extraordinary organization. Always up to date with technology. when the world used the phonograph, they use it too for their preaching activity, with the radio they have done the same. Today with television and the Internet, more people consume a lot of videos than reading the documents. So they adapted. less papers but more videos. This is really God organisation trying to do every things they can, to reach people.

try again, i was a witness most my life and guess what we were always told? “we do not participate in online meetings or air them because we are no part of the world and the world does these things. that is what sets us apart” Once upon a time they didnt have a website for this reason as well and because the internet was “evil” It wasn’t until they had some serious downsizing they started with these changes. so Try again

I was privy to everything taught by JW’s for 30 years and the internet was never described as evil. It’s just keeping up with technological changes and the reality of the internet becoming a major way that people take in information. It would be foolish and backward to never accept change in order to reach the most people. Did you have a bad experience while in the org. that discouraged you?

I was an elder for a number of years and you are correct, the organization itself never explicitly called the Internet evil. However, in the eary days of the worldwide web, there were a number of high ranking brothers who expressed their disdain and mistrust for the new technology. And certain developments like MySpace and Facebook were highly berated and I recall giving several local needs parts about them. There were circuit overseers in my country who threatened to remove elders and ministerial servants if they or their family members were found to have made use of social media sites. And of course the CO’s claimed the information came from the branch. So either that was the case or CO’s were liars. Either way not a very good record for this organization and the internet.

Yes,in the past the WT used phonograph and radio, again after others were already using them for preaching. Now again they realize the potential of the internet, but only for their own members primarily.
After years of warning members to stay away from the internet, calling it the ‘devils tool’ . Economic necessity now makes them having to use it.

@Plop boy, remember the illustration about drinking a glass of water with “just a little manure in it”? I remember that very well and so yes, if the water has manure in it, it’s not fit to drink.

Can you prove that God chose the organization in 1919? If not, then that religion is no different than any other religion and like the Watchtower always told us about false religion, even if they have some good things in it is still like a glass of water with manure in it.

When we asked people that we studied with to examine their religion up against what the Bible says, then the same thing should also apply to our religion. If we are not allowed to examine our religion up against what the Bible says, then there is something to hide.

Nobody should be afraid to examine their religion up against the Bible and if that religion is not preaching what the Bible really says, but is preaching lies, then those people should be able to leave that religion without being punished for it because they want to warn their friends and relatives about the lies too.

Nobody should be forced to be shunned to keep those secrets from the rank and file but that is what is happening to me right now and to thousands and thousands of other ex-Witnesses who have learned about all the lies and cover-ups.

Any religion that does that to people is a dangerous cult that will destroy their lives once they decide to leave and warn others about what they have learned.

That religion deserves to be destroyed by God, if there is a God because that religion is blaspheming God because that religion is using the Bible to control the people and fleece them of their money and property to enrich themselves from the innocent and naive’ who are thinking they are doing the work of God in warning people about Armageddon.

The use of the fear of a coming destruction at Armageddon is a common tactic used by controlling cults and the reward is the promise of the paradise earth.

The Watchtower used the phonograph because they purchased a phonograph manufacturer and pushed for everyone to use their specific phonograph. When not enough were purchased and no real profit was made the entire phonograph campaign was scrapped. They sold the plant and to this day there is no accounting for where those funds went.

Err… the internet was emerging from the military and academia in the early to mid 1990’s. By 2000 it was in common use in most mid to large commercial organisations. I know – I was part of a large corporation’s emerging technologies group and developing in JAVA when it first emerged in 1995.

The WTS vilified the internet for years and paid lip service to any meaningful presence. Tablets and use of multi-media in the meetings was actively discouraged.

Their adoption of the internet has only come about because the world around them has changed as has the expectations of young people in the organisation. On top of that, distribution of publications electronically makes sense financially and helps them downsize publishing facilities.

They have done a grand job of translation but that’s only because they have focused such volunteer resources to that task. It’s also easily scalable simply by creating Remote Translation Offices. The reason companies like Google, Amazon, Microsoft etc. don’t have hundreds of languages is because they have no commercial requirement to do so. The cost/benefit ration simply isn’t worth it.

Stop kidding yourself that the WTS has been some kind of internet pioneer. They were 15 years late to the party and only after someone gave them a monkey see monkey do presentation about money.

More spiritual food is not needed now that we are coming down to the end, we need to be going out in the ministry more, and this new change will help us do that. ~ My dad.

I don’t think you should be getting your hopes up, what evidence do you have that this is the JW’s “death throes”? Do you realize how much money the WTBTS take in? My grandpa died and gave most of his millions to the WTBTS, and there are tons of older people like that giving to the WTBTS. It still has a lot of life left. A lot of these baby boomers with a lot of change saved up will die out in 30 years and that will give them another 10 years in savings and more downsizing. Even if just a shell of its former self the Society will still be here 40 years from now, just severely neutered.

The next section of the Life and Ministry Meeting is entitled Apply Yourself to the Field Ministry and is 15 minutes in length. Three student presentations assigned to brothers or sisters will help us develop our ability to teach on an initial call, on a return visit, and on a Bible study.

“During the first week of every month, in place of the three student presentations, videos of model presentations will be shown and discussed to help us prepare for the ministry that month.”

It sounds to me like it’s just that first week that’ll have the videos replacing the parts but maybe I’m wrong.

    Cedars:

There is a long story to this comment, however, I will cut to the chase: in the 1980’s the cost of printing a WT was 3 and a half cents. We were contributing a quarter. Profit: 21 and a half cents per issue. Take that times millions and millions and millions of WT and Awake a year and you have a ton….a LOT….of money. How is the Society going to make up for this shortfall?

@Vernon, when we we paying 25 cents at the magazine counter, we were also asking the householder to pay for them too so the society was making 93 cents on those magazines when we placed them. No wonder they wanted them placed with the householders instead of sitting in our drawers going to waste.

I had no idea it was that cheap to print those magazines! When we started “not charging” we were still expected to pay for them at the magazine counter and to ask the householder to “donate” towards them and then we were told that we were to put that money into the contribution box too. So, I only asked the householder to “donate” a couple of times because to me when I said there was no charge, I thought it hypocritical to ask for a donation at the end after they said they’d take them. Many times though, I’d be with Witnesses and the householder would hand over $1.00. That was very typical of householders.

If you watch the latest Jason Zelda youtube video, he has the records of the Society’s stock holdings and it’s into millions and millions of stock that they own. With all the properties they own and the stocks they own, they have to be the richest corporations on the face of the earth and I always felt guilty when our congregation only sent in about $350 for the literature to the Society at the end of the month.

I always thought the Society was poor because I perceived that the richer countries were supporting the poorer countries.

I think it is interesting that more and more videos are being included as meeting material. There is a great book by the author Neil Postman called ‘Amusing Ourselves to Death: Public Discourse in the Age of Show Business’ that talks about the power of the image over that of the written word. Basically, the image taps into more of our primal and emotional center while reading triggers our higher reasoning faculties. He paints a pretty grim picture of the future that has in many ways come to pass, because this book was written in the early 80’s.

So now WT is bringing in more and more imagery through their website and meetings. Sounds like they are trying to elicit an emotional rather than a reasoned response in their members, that doesn’t say much for the strength or logic of their teachings.

I was at the meeting last night Jill. There are so many decent, kind brothers and sisters there it breaks my heart. Yet when we get down to it, who wants to be in an organisation that holds it’s people in captivity. Angus Stewart in the ARC said that the religion was a captive one. He saw that those inside were held in place through fear of shunning from families or from fear that their God would have them destroyed at Armageddon. A sister at the meeting last night said the exact same thing. She said ‘no parent wants their children to die but we just have to face the fact, if they are not in the org. then the children will die’. I was disgusted. The hall has many children and some of them looked at their parents with horror on their tiny faces. Is that not ruling by fear? I know we will each answer to our maker and when that happens I know he will judge me for who I am not for being where I am through fear of 7 men and their interpretation of the scriptures. Because that is what it is, their interpretation. We all want to be loved. I have been physically alone for 8 years now. For the last two I have been shunned by those whom I thought were my friends. Their friendship I now know is totally conditional. Hold onto your integrity Jill. Don’t give in to pressure. Think about it from a rational standpoint before you decide to go back. The grass is always greener until you realise that it’s because it’s being fertilised by bull poop.

You seemed to still enjoy being a part of the meetings etc. I was like you and inactive for a few years. I was never truly happy being away. the reason being that once we have learnt the Bible truths its hard to forget. Like any thing in this world , to belong we all have to follow rules, remember that it is an open book and anybody who dedicates their lives to God have checked it all out 1st. Then the have made their commitment, same as any other commitment in life. I focus on the good things to look forward to. The resurrection of all my family, friends who have died. a world with peace, and happy people. If we don’t have this to look forward to it makes it hard to get through day by day. Why should a tree live longer than a human. Dosnt make sense. Keep going to the meetings Jill, These changes are all building up to bigger things and you know this is true. All the best Jill.

    Guard Against Deception by Apostates
6 Satan has long used apostates in his efforts to seduce God’s servants. (Matthew 13:36-39) Apostates may claim to worship Jehovah and to believe the Bible, but they reject the visible part of his organization. Some even return to the God-dishonoring doctrines of “Babylon the Great,” the world empire of false religion. (Revelation 17:5; 2 Peter 2:19-22) Under divine inspiration, the Bible writers used strong words to expose the motives and the methods of apostates.
7 What is it that apostates want? Most are not content to leave the faith that they once perhaps viewed as true. Often, they want to take others with them. Rather than going out and making their own disciples, many apostates seek to “draw away the disciples [that is, Christ’s disciples] after themselves.” (Acts 20:29, 30) Regarding false teachers, the apostle Paul sounded this urgent warning: “Look out: perhaps there may be someone who will carry you off as his prey.” (Colossians 2:8) Does that not describe what many apostates try to do? Like a kidnapper who carries an unsuspecting victim away from his family, apostates prey upon trusting members of the congregation, seeking to carry them away from the flock.
8 What methods do apostates use to achieve their aim? They often resort to distortions, half-truths, and outright falsehoods. Jesus knew that his followers would be victimized by those who would “tell all kinds of evil lies against” them. (Matthew 5:11, Today’s English Version) Such malicious opposers would tell what is not true with the intent to deceive others. The apostle Peter warned about apostates who would use “counterfeit words,” spread “deceptive teachings,” and ‘twist the Scriptures’ to their own ends. (2 Peter 2:3, 13; 3:16) Sadly, apostates succeed in “subverting the faith of some.”—2 Timothy 2:18.
9 How can we guard against being deceived by apostates? By heeding the advice from God’s Word, which says: “Keep your eye on those who cause divisions and occasions for stumbling contrary to the teaching that you have learned, and avoid them.” (Romans 16:17) We “avoid them” by steering clear of their reasonings—whether in person, in printed form, or on the Internet. Why do we take such a stand? First, because God’s Word directs us to do so, and we trust that Jehovah always has our best interests at heart.—Isaiah 48:17, 18.
10 Second, we love the organization that has taught us the precious truths that so plainly separate us from Babylon the Great. At the same time, we recognize that our knowledge of God’s purpose is not perfect; our understanding has undergone adjustments over the years. Loyal Christians are content to wait on Jehovah for all such refinements. (Proverbs 4:18) Meanwhile, we will not abandon the organization that God is pleased to use, for we see the clear evidence of his blessing upon it.—Acts 6:7; 1 Corinthians 3:6.

anyone that has ever left any religion is considered an apostate. not to mention the brothers are the ones that decide who is and who isnt. the ones who are considered apostates are “mentally diseased” these people are judged by imperfect men, “highly imperfect”. Anyone that speaks against the organization is an apostate by their standards anyone that does not agree with EVERYTHING they say. Yes EVERYTHING. If you dont and you speak out about any of it you can be disfellowshipped. 6) What proof do you have that the Watchtower is God’s visible part of His organization? If you have any proof, I would return to the meetings. If you don’t have any proof that the Watchtower is God’s visible organization on earth, then it is a counterfeit religion asking for obedience that they don’t deserve to get and goes down as Babylon the Great and should be “gotten out of” and deserving of destruction by God.

      7) What do apostates want? Most not content to just leave the faith but want to take others with them. Rather than making their own disciples, many seek to “draw away the disciples after themselves” ….like a kidnapper…..

My answer to that one is, if a person knows that their friends are being lied to and wasting their lives in Babylon the Great, wouldn’t the Christian thing to do would be to warn them to get out of it before being destroyed by God at Armagedon???? Isn’t that we are supposed to be doing?

What makes you think that the JW religion is above being scrutinized just as all other religions? If there is nothing to hide, then any of Jehovah’s Witnesses should be able to have their questions answered instead of being disfellowshipped for asking questions.

Anyone in the JW religion is not even allowed to test their religion against the Bible but yet they expect everyone they study with to do that with their religion. There must be a reason for that. Could it be because their foundation is weak and the Society knows that full well? So, the answer is to not let an “apostate” get those answers. The answer from the Society is to shut them up so they can’t warn anybody else in that religion by disfellowshipping them.

That is why, the only answer you have to apostates is to quote directly from Watchtower publications. You have no answers on your own that you thought of. You let the Society do all your thinking for you.

What makes the Watchtower think that people “belong” to the Watchtower organization? Nobody is owned by the Watchtower but that claim that apostates want to draw others away for themselves, makes it look like the Society has “dibs” on them. It’s like “we got them first, so they belong to us. Now go out and find your own slaves.”

      8) The only ones that resort to distortions, half-truths and falsehoods is the Society. If you don’t believe that, you need to do some serious research. Don’t believe it just because you saw it in the magazines or a book. Look up what the Bible really says, not what the Watchtower says it says. We aren’t that stupid, that we can’t read the Bible and interpret it ourselves. We don’t need seven ordinary men to tell us what the Bible says. They are no smarter than any one of us. They aren’t inspired and are imperfect and like all delusional narcissists, demand obedience and adulation for their narcissistic supply but like all narcissists, have no compassion and empathy for the little guy.

      9) We do need to be on guard against being deceived by apostates, but who are the apostates? The apostates are those who deceive others by using the Bible, not as a way to help people, but are those who use the Bible as a weapon to humiliate and control people.

When the Watchtower says that apostates “cause stumbling contrary to the teaching that you have learned”, they aren’t talking about teachings found in the Bible, but Watchtower doctrines, which has nothing to do with Bible doctrines.

      10) The Watchtower has not taught precious truths that separate them from Babylon the Great. They are Babylon the Great.

Please prove to us that God chose the Watchtower Organization in 1919 as his one and only channel to mankind and I will go back to the meetings. Can you do that? I have plenty of books from that time, and the Watchtower could never have been chosen by God as it was a totally different religion than it is today.

If Jesus chose that organization at that time, then the Organization today has apostated from the one that Jesus chose. It is one or the other. It can’t be both.

Are you saying that the lawsuits against JWs, (public information now, thanx to the internet) for victims of rape and sexual abuse are false??
The problem is my poor misguided friend, is that the evidence is FACTUAL, from a neutral source ( the news!!!!).
If you pledge your life, allegiance and precious time to promoting “the truth”, wouldn’t you want to know WHY the governing body advises witnesses to NOT read, or believe any secular source of FACTUAL unbiased news reporting??
Do you honestly believe that Jehovah supports the hiding of gross sex crimes against children? A virtual safe-haven for pedophiles. What about the innocent? I suppose you haven’t read or heard of the multi million dollar class action lawsuit in Australia? against the governing body by victims of sexual abuse. That the watchtower covers up these disgusting sex crimes, by sending the offenders to different kingdom hall’s to “serve”.
Ask yourself this before you regurgitate what you have been TOLD to believe, If your son or daughter, or any precious family member was raped by an Elder, would you not want this heinous act to be reported to the police. Especially as we are supposed to comply with the authorities that Jehovah has allowed to be in place.
Often the victims are harassed, and told to LEAVE the organization if they expose or shed “light” on the wrong doing. If this REALLY is the truth, why are members not allowed to question man-made policy? To make sure that it indeed is true? Should be no fear right?…..WRONG, the governing body has their own spin doctors that work hard to cover up any leaked information, that may “hurt” their reputation. Why are they hiding all of this? I want no part of this heinous organization that has ripped my family apart. Jehovah’s laws are faultless, I do believe this. The governing body will have to answer to Jehovah and Jesus at the end of the day for not protecting the innocent. That is why the org. Is crumbling as we speak. Investigate! before you yourself are guilty of siding with pedophiles and rapists. Some are still elders to this day…

It’s not hate MFA. But there are two sides to every coin. Families are torn apart because of the shunning rule. When a JW is df’d he is no longer part of the cong. the brothers and sisters in the cong. are told that they can no longer speak to that person. This extends to family members also. Anyone found associating or even saying ‘hello’ can be brought in front of three men called a judicial meeting. It is a closed meeting where the person ‘on trial’ is faced with questions. No recording or support is allowed to be in the room with the accused person. It is a harrowing thing to happen.

Many witnesses are good people but sadly there is a brainwashing that takes place and you are coerced into believing what the Governing body – the 7 men at Bethel say. failure to agree with them results in a judicial meeting. I personally do not agree with them being chosen as the faithful and discreet slave. If the elders in our hall knew this then I would be before them and probably df’d as an apostate. simply because I disagreed with their teaching. I have been shunned though not df’d because I attended my daughters wedding to a young man who is not a witness. She was df’d. These are just a couple of things. many brothers and sisters on here have experienced far worse. I urge you to explore the site. on the home page there is a list of articles on the right hand side of the page. Look through them. Research more into it. There is so much hidden history that half of the witnesses do not know about because they are told not to look at info. that is not provided by the Org. Ask yourself, if that is the case, what is the Org. not wanting the brothers and sisters to find out. Look up for example, Judge Rutherfords letter to Hitler…. that doesn’t appear on the JW.org website. or the membership of the UN that the ORG. condemns in our literature. Check out the Australian Royal Commission recent inquiry into child abuse within the society. You can view that on YOUTUBE. Please just research.

MFA, if you’re leaning toward becoming a JW, you’ll have to hurry, because your opportunity to be one while the membership is still in the millions is likely a limited-time offer.

The ONLY thing that keeps happening to the JW organization is that it keeps being shown to be filled with false teachings, false predictions and dangerous (oftentimes deadly) doctrine. And the leaders keep showing–undeniably–that they don’t have the backing of any loving, higher power.

We don’t hate Witnesses here. Almost ALL of us either were, or still are, Witnesses. For many of us, the people we love most in this world are still in the organization. We just hate that we were duped for significant periods of our lives, and we hate that a group of cruel, deluded men are still duping so many victims in the Org.

If you sometimes read sarcastic or caustic comments here, you’ll have to trust me when I say it’s an understandable reaction for people in our situation. If that throws you off, then focus more on the articles here. Also, have a look at JWFacts. That site dispenses volumes of valuable info about the Org fairly dispassionately, which can be very important step in forming your own educated viewpoint.

We don’t hate you. Just don’t turn out to be a troll simply wanting to poke at us!

@MFA, I also agree that if that is your desire to study with Jehovah’s Witnesses, go right ahead but this is my suggestion to you when you study with them. When you see statements in the literature and you don’t see scriptures to back up their statements, ask where they get the scriptural proof for what they are saying as a fact.

The Watchtower literature makes statement after statement that makes it look like what they are saying is in the Bible but 90% is not backed up by scripture. Also, if you can look up the scripture to make sure the Bible actually says what they are saying it says and read the context and even use other Bibles as the New World Translation changed many words to make their Bible read the way they want it to read to make Witnesses think that their doctrines are in the Bible and many aren’t.

They leave out key parts of scriptures with ….(dot dot dot). That is very important to look up those scriptures. When the Watchtower uses words like likely, implies or any words like that, they are presuming (guessing), and what do you need the Watchtower for then?

The Witnesses you know, most likely are very good people. We all were and still are good people, even though we aren’t Witnesses anymore. The Watchtower didn’t turn me into a good person. I was a good person before I became a Witness. That is a fallacy the Watchtower likes to promote, but actually there’s plenty of child molesters and wife beaters within the organization right now but you’d never know it because even though the elders know who these people are, they keep it secret from the congregation.

So, go ahead, join but keep in mind that if once you find out that the Society is lying to you, you can’t change your mind and just leave. I left off going to meetings about a year ago and even though I was a faithful loyal Witness for fifty years, they gave a marking talk about me. They didn’t name me by name but they described me to the congregation and now they are shunning me. I didn’t do anything wrong but I have been slandered.

If that is the kind of Organization you want to belong to, be our guest. You deserve each other.

I also think it’s hilarious how they’ll comment on Facebook to someone who has come back to the meetings, “Oh how much better you look now that you are serving Jehovah”. Um, that pic of that person was taken three years ago when they weren’t having anything to do with the JW’s. Try Again..

MFA, to add to Grace’s comment. I was a good person before becoming a JW and I am a good person now that I am not a JW. Most people are good people, even if they don’t even believe in the Bible.

It is a fallacy that the Watchtower likes to promote that people are bad people before becoming Witnesses but that only applies to bad people who are still in the Organization such as pedophiles and wife beaters. The elders know who all these people are but they are protected within the Organization. The reason you think the Watchtower organization is such a clean organization is because those kind of people are kept secret from the congregation and the public. If the victims come forward and expose them, they will be disfellowshipped. It’s all an illusion and you are being “hooked” by that illusion.

I went to my daughters wedding. She got pregnant. The guy stepped up to the plate and married her. Gave her his name and their child a father. The elders told the cong. not even to hold the baby because it was conceived in sin. They df’d a pregnant woman. Weeks later they gave a marking talk for her new mother in law and regurgitated the whole thing. My daughter fled the hall in tears. That night a brother came banging on her bedroom window demanding to know what was going on. I was told to move out of my rented home because I shared it with her. I was semi shunned for two years. Night after night I came home/have come home to an empty house and cried myself to sleep from loneliness. My husband, a non witness left me for another woman after abusing me but I stuck to what the society said. I never looked at another man outside the Kingdom Hall. There was no knight in shining armour that came my way. I had the chance to date non witnesses but said no because of knowing I would be hailed into a judicial. I come home still and have no one. Now all of a sudden after my daughter is reinstated everyone wants to be friends again…… The love is conditional, the friendship is conditional. When I needed my brothers and sisters the most after finding out about a death not one witness came to my door. I am alone in a country that isn’t mine. I have no friends outside the org. and they have proved that they are not my real friends. Yet when I go to the meetings I look at them and feel compassion for them because as Jesus said ‘they know not what they do’. They are innocent lambs and it has taken this crap in my life for me to wake up and see it. The reason I saw it? I looked into the Proclaimers book and decided to try and strengthen my faith by retracing the history. I researched it hard and uncovered things that were omitted.

now I have written all this out and if the GB has it’s spy’s searching through these sites and they want to trace me then I am screwed. But I honestly believe I am past it. I would sooner be alone in this world than have false friendships that only except me when I except 7 men from New York and their Doctrines. God forgive me when i stand before you if I am wrong but I would sooner take my chance then than be a victim of the governing body and friends who are conditional.

I was surprised that no one recommended an organisation that he/she thinks Jehovah (I’m sure every one here is convinced that that is God’ personal name) is using to educate and instruct his people.
So the problem is that because a family member was DF, and the treatment form brothers was not helping. You came to the conclusion that JW are cult members. I think that’s part of the signs that this is the way (the right way leading to life). JW have the truth.

I had also started to notice ‘something wasn’t right’ anymore. i couldn’t put my finger on it… When I started to become weaker I decided to delve back into the Proclaimers books… you know, go back to our roots. I let my research go further than the society publications… I was a historian so it was like a rag to a bull. I began to uncover some things that disturbed me. I also saw on the news the ARC inquiry and began following that – now that really shocked me. In fact I began asking myself If the FDS is spirit anointed how come they hide child abuse within the ranks? Would Jesus hide gross indecency? It just didn’t sit right with me. Other things surfaced as I was looking into the Proclamers book too. I was curious about the letters people wrote to Hitler… can you imagine on further research how I felt when I uncovered the letter Rutherford himself wrote to Hitler! it was shocking… I would suggest you research that for yourself. Then came the UN membership….. even more unbelievable…. So you can see by doing some simple digging many on here are ‘waking up’. as a Witness we were always taught that we were not a cult… they had human leaders… hmm. Hang on, just wait a minute… are the FDS not self proclaimed… lets take another look at this… yes, it doesn’t take a lot to see where it is all heading. Please go look for yourself. You are already half in the door because you are on here so you must be curious.

Jehovah’s Witnesses is outstanding, and extraordinary organization. They become the light on this spiritually dark world. They provide spiritual food in more than 700 languages. No other organization ever even close to that record. Trully a God blessed and guided organization.

@Dane 05, it really doesn’t matter how much “food” is provided or how many languages it is printed in, if that “food” isn’t really true. Most of that “food” ends up in the garbage can. If it was taken seriously, there’s be a whole lot more Witnesses than eight million.

@JB and Dane 05, thank you for saying that. I remember when we had to have a standing order for our magazines at the magazine counter and we had to pay for them. I think I got 4 awakes and 4 Watchtowers so it equaled 16 a month and when the kids were home, it was 6 of each so it equaled 24 a month and we rarely ever placed even half of our magazines and they ended up in our cupboard and eventually they’d still be put in the recycling bin. I think the reason why the Society wants people to “place” old magazines is so that it looks like those magazines were placed in the hands of householders who is reading them but the real reason is that it looked good in the yearbook and whether they were read or not, they don’t care.

Most of those magazines put in the doors were thrown away and when we placed them with householders, I don’t believe they went anyplace either except the garbage cans. The Witnesses like to bloat about how big the circulation of the magazines is, but it’s all fake.

If it was a magazine that people bought and paid for at a store, that would be a true count of how many people actually “want” them and read them. When you give them away, it says nothing about their value.

Ohh, so very true, Anonymous. I have the same story. Standing order of magazines, many went into doors of not-at-homes, and frequently found myself with a surplus, which made me feel SOOO GUILTY. (But too embarrassed to bring my mag order down to almost none– not that it was very high to begin with.) Yeesh, glad those days are over.

There are tens of thousands of Christian organizations in the world and many of them also preach all over the planet in the same number of languages and are growing at a much faster pace, the only unique thing about JW’s is that they’ve twisted Gods will into a death cult outright praying for the death of anyone not in their specific flavor of Christianity. Shunning children for the consequences of inheriting a sinful inclination. Watchtower is an Anti biblical, antichrist, unethical, inhumane failed printing house.

OK my tuppenny ha’penny bit. Fact JWs have distributed many many Bibles earthwide.THIS HAS BEEN AN HONOURABLE UNDISPUTED THING.Well done all those who participated in that work and anyone else who continues to do so. But why oh why did they have to go and undo all the good by empire building and creating money schemes, enless rules not Bible based and bizarre belief systems? If they had just stuck to disributing the Word of God and let the people be free to choose, the the damn apocolypse may not have been delayed (last bit mine own). How the hell can you say this is the truth when we have lawyers and trained goons to fabricate new truths, new light, daft money making schemes. Isn’t that why Jesus was got by the leaders of his day because he exposed them and hit them in the purse by overturning the money changers tables. Is that not what WBTS/ JW.ORG or whatever the brand is now, is all about.? If JW’s just went door to door with the BIBLE people would maybe listen and maybe take them seriously. But it is transparent this is not God’s work. This organisation is vainglorious,Self praise is no praise. ruthless/ruthlee

I’m late folks, only just discovered this site now. I must say you make me nostalgic about those good old theocratic ministry school days. Please bear with current JW’s, you should know their situation better. Don’t bash them, allow them space to air their views….there’s a reason why they are on this site :)

Cedars, keep up the good work, I am hopeful that God will bless your contributions in exposing this false prophet. I am married to one and it is hell on earth for me, as any comment I make is met with hysterical screaming and shouting. It has become so bad that I am scared to say anything. They have even intensified her role by giving her more roles to play, all of a sudden.

What is interesting, a cult? How so? At the end of the day do Methodists, Episcopalians, Protestants, Catholics, 7th Day Adventists, Lutherans, so on an so forth share the very same beliefs? No. So why is it to each their own when it comes to those aforementioned religions, but with JWs this does not apply? Why are all religions a ‘way to God’ by whatever means, except for JWs? If one held all religions under the magnifying glass that is applied to JWs and then made a fair comparison, ‘it would not be close.’ Interestingly, the philosophy is accept all others imperfect as they may be, however, when it comes to JWs, no acceptance, no tolerance and the bar is perfection or fail. Unwise ones spend time analyzing some 30 ‘things’ out of a hundred that they question or can’t explain and fail to recognize the other 70. And on the flipside, if a fair comparison was made as previously stated, in the other religions one would see 70 ‘things’ gone wrong or unexplainable. But yet a focus on the 30 ‘things right.’ I am sure there were naysayers in Noah’s day, living life, women being given into marriage, raising families, all along paying no attention. It’s more likely than not in the totality of each religion’s beliefs, the works of its people that if there is one true religion it’s JWs. And if not and it’s just a matter of being a good person, or its in your heart or all Christianity leads to God, JWS would be covered as well. What can’t be denied is what JWs have done with respect to proselytizing, distribution of literature, technology advancements, ministry training, examination and the studying of the Bible, not mention it’s affect on First Ammendment rights, and it’s spread and growth globally. JWs are one of the few religions growing in numbers year by year. This good news will be preached…

      @Chris
There are so many flaws in your reasoning that I cannot possibly address them all, so I’ll just focus on one item: “JWs are one of the few religions growing in numbers year by year”

      REALLY????

If you look at the JW growth rate it barley keeps up with the population increase. It takes a minimum of 5,000 hours of preaching to make a single convert (probably more when you consider at least half of those converts are children raised in it). Have you ever compared the number baptized to the actual increase – almost 1/3 less – for every 2 converts made they loose 1. Did you know the baptist religion has an annual growth rate 3 times higher than JWs?

When they simply throw a lot of large numbers around it seems impressive. But when you start making actual comparisons they are shown to be nothing more than propaganda
